The Inordinary Lightroom Presets - Cine Streets (Volume One)
Presets made for those wanting to document everyday life in cine.
There's a post on my Instagram account from December 21, 2020, where I joked about my photography masterclass. It was a joke because I knew at the time that my skills were nowhere near good enough, neither behind the camera nor in the edit. I was only four years into this passion at the time and the post in question shows as it's awash with the temperature slider dialled all the way up.
However, as is always the case with anything in life, if you keep at it long enough, it is inevitable that you will get better. And so, while this is not a masterclass, it marks a significant milestone for me, as I have finally found the confidence to release my first set of Lightroom presets, inspiring others like yourself to hopefully do the same.
They’re an ode to the photography community that I've learned from over the past decade, having bought presets from creators who inspired me. They are designed to bring, dare I say it, a "cinematic" feel to your images. They are filmic but not imitative, emotional but I hope not overdone, and the kind of tones that make an image feel like it already has a story behind it.
I always start my street edits with these. More often than not, they are nearly a two-click edit away – with the two clicks being the exposure and white balance sliders left for you to dial in.
If you'd like to elevate things even further, I’ve included a set of local adjustment tools I regularly use. These tools enable you to shape light, enhance contrast, add character and fine-tune details (sharpening, subject highlight, exposure gradients etc.) without compromising the image's natural character.
What’s included:
- 9 Lightroom Presets for desktop (.XMP) and mobile (.DNG)
- A Local Adjustment Toolkit for Lightroom (masks, light shaping tools)
- 3 RAW files shot in different conditions to practice
- A PDF guide for installation
- A PDF guide with preset usage tips
These presets work best for street photography, especially when you’re trying to capture a moment's honesty while adding a bit of filmic theatre depth. They honour skin tones and yes, you may even get away with editing non-street scenes with these, but I have a separate set for my lifestyle and outdoor adventure photos which I hope to release a collection for in the future.
It's just a thoughtful starting point, made for photographers who want their edits to feel like a continuation of the moment.
Please use the #the_inordinary hashtag or tag me at @the_inordinary if you'd like me to take a look.
I'd be grateful if you could kindly leave a review (whether good or bad).
You’ll get a zip file with 9 filmic Lightroom presets (desktop & mobile), a local adjustment toolkit, 12 RAW files to practice with, install instructions and the exact tones I use in my own work.
